The Maridon Museum was established in 2004 by Mary Hulton Phillips, who spent several decades amassing a remarkable collection of Chinese and Japanese art before opening the first museum in Western Pennsylvania dedicated solely to Asian art. The snuff bottle exhibit was donated in memory of James T. "Jim" Sweeney, and remains one of the museum's most distinctive holdings. Housed in a renovated 1920s mansion in downtown Butler, the Maridon offers an intimate setting that rewards careful looking.
